The winding is the heart of the transformer and the core of the transformer transmitting and converting electrical energy. Reliable winding insulation is the basic guarantee for the long-term safe operation of the transformer. Winding insulation becomes particularly important for high voltage transformers. It not only directly affects the insulation performance of the transformer, but also has a great impact on the technical performance and economic indicators of the transformer due to the large proportion of insulation.
Once the winding insulation of the transformer is damaged, serious consequences will occur. Today, Dianhu platform will analyze the reasons for insulation damage of transformer windings, hoping to attract attention.
Usually the main reasons for transformer winding insulation damage are as follows:
(1) The short-circuit fault of the line and the rapid change of the load cause the current of the transformer to exceed the rated current several times or more than ten times. At this time, the winding is subject to a large electromagnetic moment and is displaced or deformed. In addition, due to the sharp increase in current, the winding temperature will rise rapidly. causing insulation damage.
(2) Long-term overload operation of the transformer will generate high temperatures in the windings and burn the insulation. It may become damaged and fall off. Cause inter-turn or inter-layer short circuit.
(3) Moisture opening of winding insulation. This is mostly caused by the impenetrable paint in the inner layer of the winding and the moisture content in the insulating oil. This situation can easily cause short circuit between turns.
(4) The winding joint and the tap-changer are in poor contact when running with load. Heat from the joint damages nearby local insulation. This causes a short circuit between turns or layers, causing the joints to loosen and the windings to break.
(5) The shutdown, power transmission and lightning waves of the transformer cause the winding insulation to be broken down due to overvoltage.
